Movement Academy is a teaching and learning consulting organization that uses an interdisciplinary approach to developing the whole child through physical literacy and sport development. By providing meaningful movement experiences, taught through the four learning domains of physical literacy as an over arching philosophy, our approach for teaching and learning is founded as strength based, to include:
the Physical - fundamental movement skill, agility, coordination, speed, strength, and coordination development
the Cognitive - perceptual awareness, problem solving, critical thinking, strategies and tactics of movement development
the Social - relationships, collaboration, culture and societal development
the Affective - social emotional development specific to: self-regulation, motivation, confidence, connections to place, resiliency and risk-taking development
Using play provocations and game play theories Movement Academy has designed Purposeful PLAY as a summer camp opportunity for children ages 7 - 14 to develop competence and confidence through the foundational knowledge of movement. Championing the efforts of building active learners for life, Movement Academy has established itself as leading experts in the field of physical literacy and whole child development.
Camp programming has been designed with over 85 years of teaching experience in Health and Physical Education curriculum implementation and development. The Camp is designed to be challenging, demanding, and with the highest of standards to yield physically literate individuals.
